A Hubdoc alternative that keeps receipts on your device

Extract supplier, date, tax and totals from bills and receipts into Excel, CSV or Xero/QuickBooks import files — processed in your browser. Free for 10 documents a day.

Hubdoc (owned by Xero) collects bills and receipts by photo, email and upload, extracts the key data and syncs it to Xero or QuickBooks Online. TillSheet does the extraction part without uploading anything, and gives you files instead of a sync.

Honest take: if you live in Xero and want documents to flow in automatically from email, Hubdoc is convenient. If you want the numbers in a spreadsheet, want to batch a shoebox of receipts once a quarter, or don't want supplier documents stored in another cloud, TillSheet is cheaper and private.

FAQ

Can I import TillSheet results into Xero?

Yes. With Pro, download the Xero bills CSV and import it in Xero under Business → Bills to pay → Import. See the guide on importing receipts into Xero.

Is it really private?

Yes. Files are read by JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your browser tab, including the OCR for photos. Nothing about the file is sent over the network. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools (Network tab), or disconnect from the internet after the page loads — conversion still works.

What can it read?

Digital PDF invoices and receipts (exact text), scanned PDFs and photos of receipts (on-device OCR). It extracts vendor, date, due date, invoice/receipt number, currency, subtotal, discount, shipping, tax, tip, total and line items, and suggests an expense category.

How accurate is it?

Digital PDFs are read exactly. For every document TillSheet checks that the line items add up to the subtotal and that subtotal + tax + tip equals the total; documents that pass get a green ✓, anything else is flagged ⚠ so you can fix it before exporting. Photo OCR depends on the photo — flat, well-lit and in focus works best.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Open TillSheet in your phone's browser and choose photos from your camera roll. HEIC photos open in Safari; in other browsers, share them as JPG.

What about password-protected PDFs?

Supported. You'll be asked for the password, which is used only inside your browser to open the file.

What's free?

10 receipts or invoices per day, 3 files at a time, with CSV and Excel export. No account needed. Pro adds unlimited documents, whole-folder batches, a line-item CSV and Xero and QuickBooks exports.
