What ends up in the spreadsheet

The Excel file has three sheets:

  • Receipts — one row per receipt: file, vendor, date, receipt/invoice number, category, currency, subtotal, discount, shipping, tax, tip, total and a check result.
  • Line items — one row per item with quantity, unit price and amount, so you can pivot by vendor or category.
  • Summary — totals per category, kept separate per currency.

Dates are real Excel dates and amounts are real numbers (not text), so SUM, filters and pivot tables work immediately.

Tips for photographing receipts

  • Flatten the receipt and shoot it straight on, filling the frame. Slight tilt is fine.
  • Use even light — avoid a shadow from your phone across the totals.
  • Thermal receipts fade: capture them within a few weeks of purchase.
  • If a total looks wrong, TillSheet flags it with ⚠ because the subtotal + tax + tip doesn't add up. Fix it in the table before you download.

How it works

  1. Drop receipts or invoices — PDF, JPG, PNG or WebP, straight from your phone, email or scanner.
  2. TillSheet reads them on your device: vendor, date, number, subtotal, tax, tip, total, line items and a suggested category.
  3. Check the ✓ badges, fix anything marked ⚠, then download Excel or CSV — or Xero/QuickBooks files with Pro.

FAQ

Is it really private?

Yes. Files are read by JavaScript and WebAssembly running in your browser tab, including the OCR for photos. Nothing about the file is sent over the network. You can verify it in your browser's developer tools (Network tab), or disconnect from the internet after the page loads — conversion still works.

What can it read?

Digital PDF invoices and receipts (exact text), scanned PDFs and photos of receipts (on-device OCR). It extracts vendor, date, due date, invoice/receipt number, currency, subtotal, discount, shipping, tax, tip, total and line items, and suggests an expense category.

How accurate is it?

Digital PDFs are read exactly. For every document TillSheet checks that the line items add up to the subtotal and that subtotal + tax + tip equals the total; documents that pass get a green ✓, anything else is flagged ⚠ so you can fix it before exporting. Photo OCR depends on the photo — flat, well-lit and in focus works best.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. Open TillSheet in your phone's browser and choose photos from your camera roll. HEIC photos open in Safari; in other browsers, share them as JPG.

What about password-protected PDFs?

Supported. You'll be asked for the password, which is used only inside your browser to open the file.

What's free?

10 receipts or invoices per day, 3 files at a time, with CSV and Excel export. No account needed. Pro adds unlimited documents, whole-folder batches, a line-item CSV and Xero and QuickBooks exports.
